KBI: Creativity, Patience, Cooperation

II. Learning Content:
Arts: Drawing Basics

Reference.....

Materials: pictures of lines, shapes, and textures and sample objects that depict these concepts. (ex. Picture of a line in comparison with a ruler or a pencil that represents a line.)

III. Procedure:

      A.   Introduction
      1.    Review: Lines, Shapes, and Textures
    2.    Motivation: The pupils will be introduced to different types of drawing materials. Sample pictures or actual drawing or coloring materials may be shown to the pupils. An alternative activity is to group the pupils into 6 members (prior to this actual lesson.) Each of the six members will be asked to bring one of the art materials. (HB pencil, charcoal pencil, colored pencil, crayons, chalk, and oil pastel crayons. Pupils will be grouped together and will explore using the different drawing materials by sketching and labeling these on a bond paper or drawing paper.

      3.    Statement of the Aim:
In our lesson today, you are expected to identify different drawing materials, explore a variety of drawing activities, and
translate drawing into an art form that others can see and be glad about.

      B.   Interaction
      1.    Presentation:
The actual lesson presentation could be broken down into 2 to 3 separate meetings.

Meeting 1
Pupils will be introduced to contour drawing. After having drawn the contour of a leaf without looking at their paper, pupils will be asked to show their artwork to a partner. They will try to briefly discuss what happened to their drawing, if they found it difficult to draw this way, and what they can say about their artwork. After this, each of them will take turns in drawing the contour of the face of the other. The teacher will instruct the pupils to make sure that they do not look at their paper nor lift their pencil when drawing until they are done. Pupils will again share their artwork to each other.

Meetings 2 and 3
Pupils will be asked to draw a picture upside-down as indicated on an illustration. On a separate bond paper or drawing paper, pupils will be asked to draw the inverted image placed by the teacher on the board. Please take note to keep your drawing as simple as possible for the pupils to become successful in drawing. To give even more emphasis to upside-down drawing, pupils will be asked to execute another activity about it.

The teacher will show examples of 3-D drawing to introduce the concept to the pupils. Pupils will create a 3-D drawing of a square  cube using the step-by-step procedure to be demonstrated by the teacher. This should be placed on a bond paper or drawing paper.

      2.    Comparison and Abstraction:
·         Call a pupil who will draw one contour drawing on the board and another pupil who will draw one 3-D drawing. Let the other pupils compare the 2 drawings.

      3.    Generalization:
Through some given guide questions, pupils will summarize the topics on contour drawing upside-down drawing, and 3-D drawing. A recap of the different drawing materials shall also be mentioned.

      C.   Integration:
      1.    Application:
Let the pupils create 1 contour drawing and 1 3-D drawing on their MAPEH notebooks.

      2.    Valuing:
Give emphasis on the values of patience and staying focused on the tasks at hand.

3. Assignment: Study about contour and 3-D drawing at home

KBI: Creativity

II. Learning Content:
Arts: Lines, Shapes, and Textures

Reference....

Materials: pictures of lines, shapes, and textures and sample objects that depict these (ex. Picture of a line in comparison with a ruler or a pencil that represents a line)

II. Procedure:

A. Introduction
      1.    Motivation:
The pupils will discuss the ingredients in making certain foods like peanut butter sandwich or      cake; then, compare the term “ingredients” to “elements.” In this process, the class will define    both ingredients and elements. Refer to p. 72.

      2.    Statement of the Aim:
In our lesson today, you are expected to identify the elements of art, express one’s creativity through drawing, and create a picture using different shapes and lines.

      B.   Interaction
      1.    Presentation: The actual presentation could be broken down into 2 to 3 separate meetings.

Meeting 1:
The pupils will be led to discovering that the elements of art include lines, shapes, and textures. After which, the teacher will give focus to lines, its definition, and the different kinds of lines. As each of the lines are introduced, - straight line, curved line, wavy line, zigzag line, broken line, thick line, and thin line – pupils will be asked to first draw each line in the air. Subsequent to this, the teacher will show some pictures or real objects that depict these different lines (ex. Straight line – ruler, curved line – ric-rac ribbon, zigzag line – zigzag road or floor design, etc.). After examples have been given, pupils will give additional examples of lines by pointing to real objects inside the classroom. Pupils will then be asked to execute Activity 1 on pp. 75 to 76. Once the activity is done, the pupils will draw on a half sheet of paper their dream house using different lines. An explanation as to why this was drawn should be likewise written.

Meetings 2 to 3
Shapes and textures will be defined by the teacher first. Pupils will also be asked to give their own definition of shapes and textures. After this, drawings of shapes will be shown to everyone. As these are presented and identified by the pupils, they will be asked to draw the different shapes in their notebooks.

As for the textures of objects, pupils will play a guessing game using a mystery box. The teacher will place objects in the mystery box which pupils will have to guess by feeling the object. They will be asked to guess the shape and the texture of the object as well as the actual object itself.
·         Discussion

      2.    Comparison and Abstraction:
·         Let the pupils identify and describe the different kinds of lines.
·         Identify and describe the different shapes.
